Our story

Projeto Ágatha is a socio-sports project that was born from the dream of beach volleyball player Ágatha, to make a difference in society. After organizing the ideas and running after sponsorships, he got the support of the Paranaguá city hall and private companies and thus, the Project finally got off the drawing board on 04/22/2008.

With its own headquarters on the banks of the Itiberê River, in the city of Paranaguá-PR, classes began with beach volleyball, for children and adolescents aged 7 to 17 years.

Using sport as a tool for social transformation, Projeto Ágatha, from the beginning to the present day, provides all classes free of charge. This allows people from different social classes to have the same opportunity. However, there is an important requirement for participation in classes: the student must be enrolled in school and, of course, studying and getting good grades! Sport and education need to go hand in hand.

Following this line of reasoning, the Project created a calendar of events from the first year. These events allow students to live different experiences from their daily lives, such as internal competitions and even going to the cinema for the first time in their lives!! Defining moments!

Now going back to the chronological time... the demand for classes was great and with two years of existence, two super innovations were created with the entry of Renan Rippel in the coordination: another modality was implemented, beach soccer and the project became a NGO!!! In this way he grew in quantity, but also in quality.

On 03/14/2014, the project's new headquarters is inaugurated. From that day on, the project began operating within the Aeroparque, a sports venue within the city. With this change the project gained more space.

In 2015, the desire to serve more people grew and a new modality was born in the project: Functional Training. Aimed at adults and also with free classes, this type of training caught the attention of the population. One more chance to unite families in the same environment, and provide opportunities for physical and mental health for the community.

In 2016, at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, all students were able to cheer and vibrate with their godmother, in winning the Olympic silver. At the time, the Project was already eight years old and it was beautiful to see the positive influence of this achievement on training.

In addition to classes at the schools, the project is also responsible for the performance of beach volleyball teams in the city, participating in state and national competitions. In recent years, the athletes representing the Project have done well in tournaments and obtained important achievements. Showing that this Project, in addition to being concerned with the social part, also creates the chance for students to continue in the profession as professional athletes.

And so, over the years, the Project becomes a Sand Sports Training Center, adding various modalities.

More than 8200 students have already gone through the Project!

Learning a sport and consequently its values, developing as a person and taking advantage of the opportunity that the space offers, for the formation of new friendships, are some of the items that the project has offered its students in these more than 12 years of existence. And with great commitment and contribution from the partners, the Project continues, full of desire to make a difference in society!
